I love to cook, and my house in Kemah showed it. I had a beautiful kitchen stuffed with gadgets and gizmos – most of which I only used once or never. To move onto Starry Horizons, I pared my kitchen down to the things I really wanted and supplemented with some new toys.

Magma 10 Piece Gourmet Nesting Stainless Steel Cookware Set with Non-Stick – 5 pots and pans with 2 lids and 2 handles taking up very little space! The non-stick works really well.
Fagor Futuro 6 Quart Pressure Cooker – We ordered this pressure cooker while in France. The one I had did not have a steamer basket, which seems to be essential to cooking a lot of items.
Corelle Livingware 16-Piece Dinnerware Set – Supposedly unbreakable, I liked this simple blue and white pattern. We actually had the plates and mugs already, but we ordered another set and then some extra bowls because we use bowls a lot.
OXO Good Grips 6-Piece Measuring Cup Set and OXO Good Grips 6-Piece Measuring Spoon Set – Ours were old and missing some. They tend to fall into the garbage disposal….
8 Piece Unbreakable Wine Glass Set – Given our (and by that I mean David’s) history with wine glasses, these seemed like a great idea! So far I LOVE them!
Seal-a-Meal FSSMSL0160-000 Vacuum Sealer – I am very excited to try this out, to seal and freeze meats for long passages and pre-made meals. My mom has one that she uses constantly with produce from her garden.
Panasonic SR-G06FG Automatic 3.3 Cup (Uncooked) Rice Cooker (Silver) – David and I eat a lot of rice (and plan on having sushi with the tuna we catch!) so a rice cooker is something we use often.
OXO Good Grips Mixing Bowl Set with Black Handles, 3-Piece – I love these mixing bowls. They have a nice handle, spout, and non-slip bottoms.
Zoku Quick Pop Maker – This one was the biggest splurge. We loved the KitchenAid Ice Cream Maker Mixer Attachment better, but there is no way we would bring a kitchen aid on board. Instead, we have nice healthy fruit popsicles to look forward to.
Baking dishes – In France (at the Carrefour Angoulins) we bought two pyrex baking dishes, a silicone round cake pan, and silicone loaf pan. Also, I have the Silicone Baking Cups. The silicone items are great because they are stackable and can be used for so much more than muffins. I have also placed them between the glass items to prevent noise.
Thermos – prepping hot water is part of our checklist, so we can easily enjoy hot tea, especially in the winter months.
Bar10der Bartending Tool – a gift from my mom, I do like a well-crafted cocktail, and this has everything we need in a small package!
Tongs & Spatulas – the spatulas are 100% silicone, so that you won’t melt them if you rest them on the lid of the pot for a minute, and they also won’t heat up.
Rubbermaid Commercial Storage Container – This is perfect for large pasta salads to feed a crowd, or for Artisan Bread in Five Minutes a Day dough.
SpiceStor Organizer Rack Clips – These look pretty good for getting our spices nice and organized inside our cabinets!
Baking Stone – In optimizing our oven, I have read that a baking stone will help evenly distribute heat.
Large Cookie Sheet – The oven racks fit so tightly that when they are expanded from hat, they are really hard to get in and out of the oven. I think this might fit a bit better.
Wonderbag Non-Electric Portable Slow Cooker – This is a fun one! A lot of people on Women Who Sail have raved about this as a low energy way to have a slow cooker on board!
What do you have in your galley that you love?
