What We’ve Done
We flew to France October 14th, 2014 and watched Starry Horizons be launched from the Fountain Pajot factory. We spent a few weeks getting her ready and then took off on November 28th, 2014. We stopped in A Coruña, Spain, and Las Palmas, Canary Islands. We departed the Canary Islands Christmas Day, 2014 and arrived in Miami January 20th. We spent almost 5 months in Florida, continuing to outfit our Helia for cruising. We left Florida June 18th and headed to the Bahamas, officially starting our cruising life.
After three weeks in the Bahamas, we sailed north for hurricane season, up to Nova Scotia and then Maine. In October, we sailed from Maine to Bermuda, and then down to the Caribbean, where we had our first haul out and spent 90 days cruising between the USVI and Grenada.
We sailed to Panama in February and in March passed through the Panama Canal, officially entering the Pacific Ocean on March 12th, 2016. From there, we sailed the typical coconut milk run; Galapagos, French Polynesia, Niue, Tonga, and Fiji. We spent cyclone season 2016-2017 in New Zealand.
Then we sailed from New Zealand back up to the islands. We visited remote areas of Tonga and Fiji, before continuing to Vanuatu and New Caledonia. We finished the year by watching the NYE fireworks in Sydney Habour.
For 2018 we joined the Wonderful Sail 2 Indonesia Rally. We spent July – October in Indonesia before heading up the west coast of Singapore, Malaysia, and Thailand.
Next we sailed across the Indian Ocean, visiting Sri Lanka, Maldives, Chagos, Seychelles, and Madagascar before rounding the bottom of Africa and sailing up the South Atlantic Ocean to finish our world circumnavigation in Antigua.
