Today we are finally leaving Miami! After 41 days we got all of the work done that we needed to do and are really excited to get on to Tampa! In our 6 step program with the boat for going cruising, Tampa will be step 5. After we are done in Tampa, we will really be cruisers, not just delivery crew or liveaboards!
Step 1. Launching the boat
Step 2. Work in France
Step 3. Atlantic Crossing
Step 4. Work in Miami
Step 5. Work in Tampa
Step 6. FREEDOM!!!
In addition, we also booked our next trip back to Texas. I did just get back from there, but we are heading over for one of my best friend’s weddings. We fly into Dallas March 12th, and we will be there for a bit and then down to Houston to give David (and me!) a chance to visit friends and family, and then we will be driving back to Tampa, laden down with a car full of stuff we want to bring back to the boat. Where are we going to put all that stuff? Not sure yet….but some items we are looking forward to having again – more clothes, yoga mats, our wedding champagne flutes (which are in their very protective padded box), some of our favorite wine, etc….
When we get into Tampa, we will be staying at Regatta Pointe Marina. We’ve got a big ‘ole list of projects to get started on, so in the first week in Tampa we will be meeting with vendors and planning out the work. Once we leave for Texas we will have a much better idea of how long the boat will be in Tampa, but we are estimating 6 weeks. I am very excited about the liveaboard situation at Regatta Pointe – they have a laundromat, wifi, a restaurant, and social activities! I have been following them on Facebook and been getting their emails, so I am pumped up to be there!
We probably won’t be posting on the blog during this trip, since it is only a two day passage. See you in a few days!
