Well, we tried to leave today. The weather in Houston and Texas in general has everything at the airport very backed up. Before we arrived at IAH we received a notice that our flight was delayed 50 minutes. We checked in and got our luggage taken care of while almost all the flights going anywhere were delayed or canceled. We also upgraded to first class on our Miami leg ($180) which got us 2 additional checked bags each ($600 value).
We sat at our gate while our flight got pushed back a few times to the point where we were not going to make our connection to Paris. I went to the desk to figure out our plans. The plane had to circle Houston and then divert to Austin. It got turned away in Austin and diverted to Corpus Christi. The crew was grounded because of their hours so now they had to send in another crew from Dallas. Of course, flights to and from Dallas are all delayed.
At that point I just turned to our customer service agent and asked if we could just reschedule to tomorrow.
David is sure the cosmos is teaching us patience with travels. I am hoping that a false start in our flights will help us avoid a false start on Starry Horizons.
Out of our patience and karma today, we got bumped to business class on our flight to Paris tomorrow…
…and the weather should be beautiful! Lucky us!
