This post has been a while in coming, for several reasons really, but I’m going to be starting off with the good news: Fountaine Pajot has started construction of our boat! We finally know that Starry Horizons will be hull #77 and is scheduled to be completed at the factory towards the end of September. Since we had a prior arrangement with our dealer, the boat will likely still stay at the factory until mid-October, at which point we will fly over to watch her be moved from the factory over to the water.
As you can imagine, we are incredibly excited to finally get this news and realize that we are getting that much closer to the completion of Starry Horizons. In some ways it feels like it was just yesterday we were at the Annapolis Boat Show placing our order, and then I think about the hundreds (if not thousands) of hours we’ve spent since doing research, making decisions and trying to get ready for the boat, and it makes me realize this has been quite the process. Amy has started detailing out a lot of the items we’re still working on in preparation for heading to France, and there’s lots more left to be done.
Now for the bad news… There were some pretty significant issues with the final options ordered for the boat. I’m not sure of all the details, but somehow the boat was ordered with some options that we didn’t want, including several big ticket items, and didn’t get ordered with some of the items that we did want. Florida Yacht Group, our dealer, has been working with Fountaine Pajot and us to try and rectify the situation and we hope that everything will be resolved. But needless to say this has been extremely disappointing.
We’re currently awaiting our first pictures of the boat from the factory (even though it is supposedly about halfway done) and we’ll be sure to share as soon as we receive them.
