What We’ve Done
We flew to France October 14th, 2014 and watched Starry Horizons be launched from the Fountain Pajot factory. We spent a few weeks getting her ready and then took off on November 28th, 2014 . We stopped in A Coruña, Spain, and Las Palmas, Canary Islands. We departed the Canary Islands Christmas Day, 2014 and arrived in Miami January 20th. We spent almost 5 months in Florida, continuing to outfit Starry Horizons for cruising. We left Florida June 18th and headed to the Bahamas, officially starting our cruising life.
From the Bahamas, we sailed north for hurricane season, up to Nova Scotia and then Maine. In October, we sailed from Maine to Bermuda, and then down to the Caribbean, where we had our first haul out and spent 90 days cruising between the USVI and Grenada.
We sailed to Panama in February and in March passed through the Panama Canal, officially entering the Pacific Ocean on March 12th, 2016. From there, we sailed the typical coconut milk run; Galapagos, French Polynesia, Niue, Tonga and Fiji. We spent cyclone season 2016-2017 in New Zealand.
From New Zealand, we will head to Tonga and then Fiji, possibly continuing to New Caladonia and Vanuatu before settling in Australia for the cyclone season.
Long Term Plans
Our plan is to circumnavigate, ending most likely in the Caribbean. At the moment, we don’t have the money to cruise indefinitely. Someday, we will have to put our landlubber hats back on and go to work again. In the mean time, we will keep heading west and enjoy our next destination!
